Description
Between 15th of April and 31st of August we get a horde of seabirds arriving at Anda lighthouse and the area outside Stø and Nyksund to nest. With steep mountain sides, beautiful views and a coast full of culture and history, this is an experience that you should make. Do the trip and experience the bustling birdlife on the outside with RIB!
You will be able to see birds such as white tailed eagles, puffins, razorbills, guillemots, terns, cormorants, gannets, black guillemots, kittiwakes and other boreal seabirds. Here you can choose to either take pictures or just enjoy the wonderful birdlife that Anda has to offer you!
Experience the mammals up close!
During this period, we are often visited by killer whales and porpoises who appear at regular intervals. Later we head for the reefs where the harbor seals spend their summer giving births and relaxe in large numbers. Did you know that Øksnes is actually the municipality in Norway with the largest population of harbor seals?
There will be departure and arrival from Nyksund, and the boat trip takes from one to one and a half hours. We recommend dressing in warm clothes, beenie and hiking shoes. We provide warm floating suits, life jackets and goggles so that you are always safe when you travel with us!
Practical information
- Daily departures: June 1 - 30 at 11:00 AM and July 1 - August 15 at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
- Meeting point: You will find us in Nyksund in building 2 after the restaurant "Ekspedisjonen".
- Arrival time: 30 minutes before.
- Duration: 1.5 hours.
- A minimum of 4 people for the trip to run.
- Minimum age: 8 years old.
